Me+Usic House

Mission

Our mission is to connect young musicians to make music together. Through Me+Usic House, high school musicians are linked with music learners who want extra guidance during their practice. Tutors can gain experience teaching others in music as they reach a deeper understanding of their instrument and apply the skills they’ve learned. Meanwhile, tutees will have experienced musicians who can guide them to improve and showcase their inner talent. Me+Usic House is a supporter of Scottish Rite for Children; all funds are donated to the hospital.

Allyson Chen founded Me+Usic House after noticing that many young musicians struggled with efficient and effective practicing. She has been playing the piano for more than twelve years; as she watched and guided her two little sisters who play the violin, she noticed that there’s often a gap between a young music learner’s understanding and their private-lesson teacher’s instructions. She wanted to create a way to help young musicians learn the correct techniques for practicing so that everyone can make music together.

Allyson started playing music with others when she accompanied her little sister at the national Superbaby competition when she was eleven years old. From there, she spent her middle school years accompanying the Dallas Youth Children’s Choir (DYCC). She’s played with her school's top orchestra, band, and theater programs, as well as the top All-Region and top All-State orchestras.

Allyson found her second love for music through connecting with other people by making music. Through Me+Usic House, she hopes to spread that joy to others through Me+Usic House.
