Gavel Club
About the Program
5C’s Help You Grow Gavel Club helps students in grades 5-12 develop public speaking, communication, and leadership skills through regular speaking practice within a supportive environment. The club is affiliated with Toastmasters International, a global nonprofit organization focused on communication and leadership development. Gavel Clubs are a part of Toastmasters’ youth leadership program.
Founded in 2016 by Ms. Lisa Sun, a Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM), the club is now entering its 11th year helping students build confidence and develop their public speaking skills.
During meetings, members give both prepared and impromptu speeches, deliver constructive evaluations, and serve in various meeting roles, helping them becomemore comfortable with public speaking. Through Gavel Club, students learn how to organize their ideas, think on their feet, and grow as confident and effective communicators.
Impact
Since 2016, the Gavel Club has helped more than 220 students become confident speakers and effective communicators. Many members have gone on to use their skills as leaders in their schools, extracurricular activities, and communities.
Members have also won awards in prepared Speeches, Evaluation, and Table Topics at local Toastmasters competitions.

Meeting Schedule:
2nd & 4th Saturday of each month
6:30-7:30 PM (8th Grade and above)
7:30-8:30 PM (5th - 7th Grade)

Membership Information
Membership Fee for the Full School Year: (non-prorated)
New Members: $120
Returning Members: $100
Membership is open to students Grade 5 and above.

Registration
Students are welcome to attend a complimentary tryout before joining the program.
